We dedicated five projects on St. Croix which commemorated the major strides we have made in how WAPA is enhancing our capabilities. Each day we are working to more efficiently and reliably serve our customers. Each project has introduced a state of the art initiative which was spearheaded by an- house engineer. How proud I was, said Executive Director (CEO), Hugo V. Hodge Jr., as I listened to each engineer/project manager make a presentation about his/her project and heard each contractor speak so highly of WAPA and its in-house expertise. One of the highlights of today’s dedication was hearing that the upgrade of the Richmond substation (the most expensive of the projects at over $12 million) was completed ahead of schedule, within budget and with no change orders!

Congratulations to the following Project Mangers:

  • Belgrave Stedman-- State-of-the art Richmond Substation Upgrade
  • Cara Pascal—Rehabilitation of the Richmond 10 Million Gallon Storage Tank with WAPA’s logo sitting majestically atop
  • Elva Polimis—Richmond Standpipe Building—now attractively and comfortably rehabilitated for the administrative and operational staffs
  • Elisa St. Rose—MIOX Chlorine Generating System which has already yielded substantial savings for the Authority since its installation
  • R. Arthur Burton--Christiansted Underground Project Phase I which has significantly improved service reliability from the power plant to town.

Kudos also to the directors, managers, supervisors, and WAPA support crews without whom these accomplishments would not have been achieved.
