WAPA SCHEDULES TRAFFIC AND POTABLE WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS ON POLYBERG HILL ROADWAY ON FRIDAY

(Thursday, May 18, 2017)

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority announces a traffic flow interruption on Polyberg Hill, St. Thomas, on Friday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During that time, WAPA Water Distribution crews will perform an exploratory excavation of the water main, ahead of an upcoming potable water service connection for the new V.I. Fire Service Hotel Company headquarters.

Friday’s traffic interruption will affect the westbound lane from William G. Lewis “Lovers” Lane intersection to the J. Antonio Jarvis School Annex. The eastbound lane will remain open and unaffected. Motorists are asked to adhere to directional signs for the safety of crews, pedestrians and other drivers and where possible, motorists should traverse an alternate route.

In addition, there will be a water service interruption along Polyberg Road between the Jarvis School Annex to the former Domino gas station as a result of the planned excavation. The service interruption will also be from 9 am - 3 pm and the Charlotte Amalie High School will not be affected by the service interruption.

The Authority apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this temporary road closure and service interruption and assures the public that every effort will be made to restore both water service and the normal flow of traffic in a timely manner.
