SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT ELECTRICAL SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS SCHEDULED TO FACILITATE ONGOING WORK ON MAIN STREET ENHANCEMENT PROJECT

On both Saturday and Sunday nights (October 5th and 6th) from 10 p.m. – 3 a.m., customers on a portion of St. Thomas Feeder 6B will experience an electrical service interruption.  The scheduled outages are necessary to facilitate ongoing work on the Main Street enhancement project, specifically in the area of Store Tvaer Gade and Raadets Gade.

As a result of the planned electrical service interruptions, customers from the Moravian Church on Norre Gade, along Main Street to the Rothschild Francis “Market” Square will be affected.

WAPA apologizes for any inconvenience the service interruptions may cause.

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is an autonomous agency of the Virgin Islands Government which produces and distributes electricity and drinking water to residential and commercial customers in the territory. WAPA was created by the Fifth Legislature of the Virgin Islands in 1964 through Act No. 1248. Today, WAPA generates electrical power at production plants on St. Thomas and St. Croix, and distributes electrical service through smart grids to customers on St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John, Hassel Island, and Water Island. Potable water is distributed to almost 13,000 customers through water lines and standpipes. WAPA also has the responsibility of installing and maintaining street lights.
