WAPA ANNOUNCES CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY OPERATING HOURS AT CUSTOMER SERVICE LOCATIONS

     In celebration of Christmas, the Customer Service offices of the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority will observe the following operating schedule:

• Tuesday, December 24, 2019 – 8 a.m. to noon
• Wednesday, December 25, 2019 – Closed

• Thursday, December 26, 2019 – Closed

    Normal operating hours will resume on Friday, December 27, 2019.

    Although the Customer Service offices are closed, customers wishing to may payment on their electrical or potable water service accounts can utilize the following options: pay on-line at www.viwapa.vi; Pay by Phone; drop boxes at Customer Service office locations; and self-service kiosks at Petrus Plaza on St. Thomas.

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is an autonomous agency of the Virgin Islands Government which produces and distributes electricity and drinking water to residential and commercial customers in the territory. WAPA was created by the Fifth Legislature of the Virgin Islands in 1964 through Act No. 1248. Today, WAPA generates electrical power at production plants on St. Thomas and St. Croix, and distributes electrical service through smart grids to customers on St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John, Hassel Island, and Water Island. Potable water is distributed to almost 13,000 customers through water lines and standpipes. WAPA also has the responsibility of installing and maintaining street lights.
