WAPA Implementing St. Thomas Feeder Rotation Schedule Monday

7/21/2008

Due to continuing problems in St. Thomas’ Randolph E. Harley Plant, the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is forced to implement a feeder rotation schedule for Monday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Generating units #23 and #12 have been experiencing operational problems since last week. While Unit #12 will be down for a minimum of four weeks for repairs to its rotor system, it is anticipated that repairs to Unit #23’s ratchet system will be completed by midweek at which time WAPA is optimistic that feeder rotation can be eliminated.

The Authority regrets the continuing inconvenience to its St. Thomas and St. John customers due to feeder rotation. Engineers and technicians are working to restore stability to the Harley Plant as soon as possible.
