WAPA to Relax the Water Conservation Schedule on St. Thomas

8/8/2008

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is advising its St. Thomas water customers that the Authority will relax the water conservation schedule this evening due to the recent rainfalls, consistent water production in the power plants, and improved storage levels.

Despite the improving situation, the Authority is advising consumers to conserve water and switch to cisterns or wells, if available. Be water wise and keep showers short with pressure at low force, turn off faucets while brushing teeth or shaving, when washing dishes fill wash and rinse basins with water to avoid continuously running water, recycle rinse water to water plants, immediately repair leaks and drips, avoid extra cycles in the dishwasher, match the water level to the load size in washing machines and only do full loads.

WAPA appreciates the patience of its customers while it works to restore adequate water storage levels.
