The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is advising its Thomas water customers that the utility will continue its water conservation schedule this weekend and throughout next week.  The Authority will pump water to customers from 5 – 9 a.m. and 5-9 p.m.

The water conservation schedule was initially put into effect to address existing water shortage, due to mechanical problems in the power plant, last Friday.  WAPA has returned Unit #11 boiler to operation and anticipates Unit #21, the waste heat recovery boiler, will be back in service over the weekend which will increase the current level of water production.  At this time, three of the four water desalination plants are online and producing water; however, the Authority will continue the conservation schedule to help rebuild water storage.  It is important that WAPA maintains adequate water storage, particularly during hurricane season.

The Authority appreciates the understanding of its water customers and will update as necessary.
