4 PM Alert: Revised St. Thomas Water Schedule Due to Emergency Leak Repairs

(Tuesday, December 27, 2011)

ALERT 4:00 P.M.

WAPA ISSUES ST. THOMAS WATER SCHEDULE REVISIONS

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority has revised the water service schedule for today as follows:

  • 3 to 6 p.m.

Altona, Annas Fancy, Savan, Veste Gade, Garden St., Bunker Hill, Main St.

  • 6 to 9 p.m.

Sugar Estate, Estate Thomas

WAPA water crews made emergency repairs earlier today to a water line in Frenchtown, which caused a revision in the previously published water schedule. The new schedule will make water available to some of the areas that were unable to be serviced earlier today. Additionally, the Authority will pump to the Schneider Regional Medical Center from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Executive Director Hugo V. Hodge Jr. said to ensure all customers, including those on the East End, receive water, the utility must increase storage and pressure, which means suspending service on Wednesday to all areas. “We will store as much water as possible beginning Tuesday night and will pump to all areas, including the East End on Thursday on a schedule of two-hour intervals,” Hodge said. Thursday’s water rotation schedule will be announced on Wednesday.

The Authority remains committed to remedying the water shortage problem as soon as possible.
