ST. Thomas Water Alert: 4:45 P.M. Service Schedule Update

(Thursday, December 29, 2011)

ALERT 4:45 P.M.

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is updating its water service schedule on St. Thomas for this evening and tomorrow. While WAPA has done its best in scheduling, the demand on the water system has determined that the originally posted schedule needed to be altered. The designated times should be considered approximate, as it may take time to divert water from one location to another, however every effort is being made to maintain the two hour intervals. At this time, the schedule is the following:

December 29, 2011

  • 6 – 8 p.m.

Sugar Estate, Estate Thomas

  • 8 – 10 p.m.

Hospital Ground, Ross Taananberg, Havensight, Upper Contant (Contant Knolls), Garden Street, Bunker Hill

December 30, 2011

  • 6 – 8 a.m

Annas Fancy, Savan, Veste Gade, Main Street

  • 8 – 10 a.m.

Subbase, Frenchtown, Contant, Altona

  • 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Lindbergh Bay

The scheduled 7 to 9 p.m. water service to Annas Retreat as well as the Bovoni and Tutu Housing communities has been deleted from today’s schedule. While WAPA was able to pump to the Donoe water tank from 1 p.m. today, water will not reach to the levels required to pump directly to the customers in those areas. WAPA remains determined to get water to the East End of St. Thomas as soon as possible.

Customers with water service are asked to use water thoughtfully, as doing so will assist in the ability of others to also receive water.  The public is urged to immediately report any water leaks noticed throughout St. Thomas to 775-5873 so they may be repaired promptly.

Again, WAPA reminds its customers that it is doing its best to maintain the schedule; however events in the field may determine if further revisions are needed. The Authority will continue to update the community as any changes are made. Work continues in the Randolph E. Harley Power Plant to increase water production. Schedule updates are available at, through VI-Alert text messages and emails, radio stations, and by dialing (340) 774-3552 and pressing #6 for a recorded message.
