Only WAPA’s Computer Network System is Scheduled for Temporary Shutdown this Weekend

(Friday, June 08, 2012)

In response to phone calls to the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority  and rumors that are circulating in the community, the utility is reminding its customers that the computer network shutdown that has been scheduled  for this weekend will not affect the utility’s ability to provide water and power services to customers.  It is anticipated that water and electric services will be available territory-wide throughout the weekend.

As announced, The Authority will be relocating its IT operations this weekend which will necessitate a temporary interruption to the online payment option and to website information. Additionally, email responses to customer inquiries will not be possible until the computer network system resumes operations on Monday, June 11 at 8 a.m.

During the computer network shutdown, water or power emergencies should be reported to 773-0150 on St. Croix or on St. Thomas/St. John/Water Island to 774-1424.  Customers can listen to operational updates, if necessary, by pressing #6 for a special message on St. Thomas at 774-3552 or on St. Croix at 773-2250. Customers can also visit WAPA’s facebook page for informational updates. While the online payment system is unavailable, payments can be made at several local banks, by check or money order at WAPA office drop boxes, or by mail.

WAPA looks forward to serving its online visitors at again on Monday.
