WAPA Unveils New Bill Format This Month

(Wednesday, July 11, 2012)

Beginning this month, Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority customers will notice a change in the format of their monthly electric and water bills.

"The new design eliminates the use of the carbonized monthly statement and displays the billing information in a simpler, more customer-friendly way," says Customer Service Director Monique Richards. Customers will still be able to access the same information displayed on their previous electric or water bill, including account number; service period; kilowatt and kilogallon usage; and last payment amount.

Richards noted that for the first month the bills will feature a black and white print, but starting in August, they will be produced in full color. She also confirmed that the new billing format will be more cost effective. "Customer input is always welcomed,” said Richards. “We appreciate any comments from our customers about this new billing format and look forward to continuing to improve customer service." In future months, the utility will be able to include informational inserts with the billing statement as part of its public education campaign. WAPA is also working on an electronic billing format for customers who would prefer that option.

Remember, customers are urged to make payments online at Payments can also be made by check or money order into the drop boxes at WAPA business offices, at most local banks and via the mail service.
