Traffic Detour Scheduled for Wednesday in Christiansted

TRAFFIC DETOUR SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY IN CHRISTIANSTED WHILE CREWS INSTALL FIRE HYDRANT

Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority contractor Rotating Equipment Corporation will be installing a fire hydrant on Queen Street just north of the Queen and Prince Streets intersection, near Brady’s Restaurant, on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. The section of Queen Street between Prince and King Cross Streets will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Patrons of Brady’s Restaurant will have access through the intersection at Queen and Prince Streets. There will be no scheduled water interruptions during the work period.

To ensure the safety of work crews, pedestrians and other vehicles in the area, motorists are asked to drive cautiously and follow all traffic directions.

WAPA appreciates the understanding of the public during this water service enhancement project.

Note: The Christiansted Fire Hydrant Installation Project began in July and is scheduled to be completed by mid-October. Twelve water hydrants will be installed in the town area at a project cost of $125,424.00.
