WAPA to Connect Underground Lines Across Melvin Evans Highway

(Thursday, September 26, 2013)

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority and J. Benton Construction crews will perform work across the Melvin H. Evans Highway from Thursday, September 26 at 5 p.m. through Friday, September 27 at 5 p.m., to connect underground high voltage lines to the Midland Substation currently under construction at Estate Spanish Town.  The crews will work at the intersection of the Evans Highway and Route 663 (vicinity of the Diageo complex) constructing a duct bank across the highway to an existing electrical manhole in the west bound lane. A traffic safety plan submitted to the V.I. Police and Public Works Departments will ensure minimal disruption to traffic in the area.

Motorists are asked to proceed with caution in all construction areas and to follow traffic directions for the safety of crews, pedestrians and other drivers.

The Authority looks forward to serving the public more reliably through these infrastructure enhancement projects.
