WAPA Continues Street Light Repairs

(Monday, September 30, 2013)

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority crews continue to repair street lights on all three islands with work expected to continue through December. With the updated schedule, repairs on each island will continue to be completed in sectors. No power interruptions are anticipated as a result of these street light repairs. While every effort will be made to maintain these schedules, it should be noted that weather events or other unanticipated circumstances may necessitate schedule revisions.

Repairs are scheduled as follows:

St. John: Sept. 23 to Nov. 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

• Sector 3 – Sept. 23 to Oct. 11: Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole, Pastory, Lindpoint, Contant, Great Cruz Bay, Bethany, Caneel Bay and Guinea Gut.

• Sector 5 – Sept. 23 to Oct. 11: Public Works, Gift Hill, Reef Bay Trail, Bordeaux and Centerline Road.

• Sector 4 – Oct. 4 to 18: Coral Bay Ball Park, Penn’s Point, Saunders Gut, Salt Pond, Johns Folly, Lameshur and Concordia.

• Sector 1 – Oct. 21 to 25: Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay and Carolina.

• Sector 2 - Oct. 28 to Nov. 1: Fortsberg, Palestina, Hansen Bay, Long Bay and Round Bay

St. Thomas: September 23 to December 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily

• Sector 4 – Sept. 23 to Oct. 4: Donoe, New Herrnhut, Hoffman, Charlotte Amalie, Bovoni, Bolongo, Mariendahl, Nadir, Langmath, Frydenhoj, Nazareth and Smith Bay

 Sector 2 – Oct. 7 to 18: Dorothea, Bonne Resolution, Lilliendahl & Marienhoj, St. Peter Mountain Road, Lerkenlund, Misgunst, Peterborg, Magens Bay, St. Joseph & Rosendahl, Wintberg, Canaan and Valley Road.

• Sector 3 – Oct. 21 to Nov. 1: Upper John Dunkoe, Frenchtown, Altona, Savan, Garden Street, Hospital Ground, Frenchman’s Bay, Estate Thomas, Raphune Hill, Polyberg, Bakkero and Bellevue.

• Sector 1 – Nov. 4 to 15: Bonne Esperance, Bordeaux, Fortuna, Caret Bay, Sorgenfri, Crown Mountain Road, Fortuna, Hope, Santa Maria and Neltjeberg.

• Sector 5 – Nov. 18 to 29: Mandahl, Donoe, Anna’s Retreat, Tabor & Harmony, Frydendahl and Cassi Hill.

• Sector 6 – Dec. 2 to 13: Adelphi, Lindbergh, Contant, Crown & Hawk and Nisky.

St. Croix: Sept. 23 to December 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily

• Sectors 4 and 4A – September 15 to October 5: Golden Rock, Beeston Hill, Sion Hill, Little Princess, Annas Hope, Castle Coakley, La Grande Princess, Peters Rest, Ruby, Strawberry, St. John, Constitution Hill, Montpellier (East) and Sion Farm.

• Sector 3 – October 6 to 26: Work & Rest, Castle Coakley, Clifton Hill, Granard, Cottage, Profit, Grange, Diamond, Bethlehem, Humbug, Barren Spot, Tamarind Estate, Cane Garden, Pearl, Sunny Acres, Anna’s Hope, Cottage and Blessing.

• Sector 2 – October 27 to November 16: Richmond, Altona, Shoy, Herman Hill, Orange Grove, Recovery Hill, Green Cay, Contentment, Christiansted Town, Boetzberg, Sally’s Fancy Gallows Bay, Tide Village, Lowry Hill, Peter’s Farm, Mount Welcome, Mount Pleasant (East), Catherine’s Rest and LBJ Gardens.

• Sector 1 – November 17 to December 7: Southgate, Solitude, Grapetree Bay, Green Cay, Coakley Bay, Turner Hole, Mount Washington, Cotton Valley, Cotton Grove, Seven Hills, Teague Bay, Mount Fancy, Tipperary and Slob.

Customers are asked to notify the Authority of any street lights near their home or business which are in need of repair by calling (340) 773-0150 on St. Croix and (340) 774-1424 for St. Thomas/St. John. If possible, please include the pole number which is located on the silver plate on the pole. Customers can also send the information by email to If the streetlight repair request has already been made, it will not be necessary to make another request.

Motorists are asked to drive cautiously in the areas where street light repairs are in progress. The Authority would like to thank the community for their cooperation and patience during this project.
