WAPA HOLDS PUBLIC MEETING ON ST. CROIX ON IRP PROCESS

(Thursday, June 18, 2015)

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is holding a public meeting on Tuesday, June 23, on St. Croix, to present and discuss the process of preparing an Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) that will be prepared for the Authority by its consultant, Black & Veatch. A similar public meeting was held on St. Thomas late last month.

“The IRP is a study which determines the best generation mix for WAPA over the next two decades. It looks at the current generation to determine generator sizes, types of renewable energy to have WAPA perform at its optimal efficiency and reliability. A study was also conducted for the Authority’s transmission and distribution system,” said WAPA Executive Director / CEO Hugo V. Hodge, Jr.

The public is invited to hear, offer comments and ask questions about the plan at a public meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Theatre at the University of the Virgin Islands’ St. Croix Campus.
