U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – September 5, 2024 – The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (“WAPA” or the “Authority”) would like to thank customers in the St. Thomas/St. John district for their cooperation this week in conserving energy to help stabilize power across the grid. The Authority anticipates diesel delivery this Saturday, September 7, 2024, and has determined its present fuel supply sufficient to resume normal operations.
We are taking proactive steps to maintain a stable and reliable fuel supply to support our operations and the increased needs of our community. This includes working closely with our suppliers, optimizing our fuel procurement processes, and continually monitoring our reserves. Likewise, we are pursuing efforts to diversify power sources, including forging forward with renewable energy partnerships and installation of battery energy storage systems.
We appreciate the patience, understanding and commitment of the community and remain dedicated to providing reliable water and power services.
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority Communication’s department is committed to reaching, informing, and connecting with the youngest members of the community to the eldest, through meaningful, transparent and effective communication.
