U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA or “Authority”) wishes to inform the public of an upcoming road closure on St. Croix at the intersection of Route 669 and Centerline Road by Spicy Grill, for the Golden Grove Underground Project.
The road closure will begin on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, at 8 AM and end at 3 PM. Between 8 AM – 11 AM, both lanes will be closed, and from 11 AM – 3PM only one lane will be closed. The public is advised to use Melvin Evans Highway as an alternative during this time. Traffic signs, roadblocks and flaggers will be on site to help maintain/detour traffic.
The road closure will allow Vivot Construction to pull necessary cables, as part of the Authority’s ongoing federally funded Golden Grover Undergrounding Project. This project will strengthen the utility’s distribution network by transferring overhead infrastructure underground, making it less susceptible to damage from natural disasters.
