St. Croix Waterline Tie-in and Road Closure Beginning May 12, 2023, as part of Clifton Hill Waterline Rehabilitation Project

May 12, 2023

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA or “Authority”) would like to inform the public of an upcoming disruption to water service and an associated road closure on St. Croix related to the Clifton Hill Waterline Rehabilitation Project.

Beginning Friday, May 12, 2023, at 6:00 PM through Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 6:00 AM, one of the northern lanes of the Melvin Evans Highway will be closed. Flaggers and signage will be present at all work zones, and motorists are advised to exercise caution. Please see traffic control plan for an exact outline of impacted area.

From Friday, May 12, 2023, at 9:00 PM through Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 6:00 AM, water service to the following areas will have little to no pressure due to a 10” waterline tie-in to connect the newly installed waterlines in the Clifton Hill community:

- Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center
- Pepper Tree Terrace
- Strawberry & Strawberry Hill
- Clifton Hill
- Peters Rest
- Sion Farm
- Catherine’s Rest

- Bethlehem & Profit Hills

We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage members of the community to report outages that last beyond Saturday morning.

The nearly completed Clifton Hill Waterline Rehabilitation Project will allow for significant improvements to water quality and delivery efficiency.

The Authority thanks the public for its cooperation.
