Water Rehabilitation / Replacement Projects

Project Description: Replacing the Clifton Hill communities old Ductile Iron waterlines with 15,000 ft of new PVC pipes, valves, meter boxes, and hydrants.

Completed: Installed 1,500 ft of 10” PVC Pipe, 7,500 ft of 6” PVC Pipe, and 3,500 ft of 4” PVC Pipe. Installed all fire hydrants. Transferred majority of the customers on the west side of Clifton Hill.

Project Timeline: July 2022 - July 2023

Funding: Territorial Drinking Water Capital Improvement Program by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)


Next Steps:
Install the remaining 1000 ft of 6” and 1000 ft of 10” pipe along Rt 75 after the VI Department of Public Works project earthworks is complete to final grade. Pressure Testing and Water Quality Testing for the eastern half of Clifton Hill, followed by transfer of service and final tie-in to main line.

Campo Rico (STX)

Project Description: Replacing the Campo Rico community existing old Ductile Iron waterlines with approximately 21,500 linear ft of new PVC pipes, valves, meter boxes, and hydrants.

Construction Start:: Construction to start early March with trenching to begin mid-March 2023.

Project Timeline: March 2023 - December 2023

Funding: Territorial Drinking Water Capital Improvement Program by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Estimated Funds: $7,295,450


What to Expect:
All residents in the area should be aware of construction activities that will impact road conditions, dust and noise levels as well as some scheduled water service interruptions as the new system is installed, tested and activated.

Hannah’s Rest (STX)

Project Description: Replacement of existing old ductile iron pipe with 10,800 feet of6-inch C-900 PVC water pipe, valves, fittings, service connections, meter boxes,hydrants and road pavement restoration in Estate Hannahs Rest.

Construction Start:: Construction to start late February 2024.

Project Timeline: February 2024- September 2024

Funding: Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) by Environmental ProtectionAgency (EPA) - Estimated Funds: $3,196,936
