SCHEDULED WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION SATURDAY ON ST. CROIX TO AFFECT CUSTOMERS IN SEVERAL RESIDENTIAL AREAS AND THE JUAN F. LUIS HOSPITAL
A potable water service interruption is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2019 affecting customers in Sion Farm, Catherine’s Rest, Golden Rock, Anna’s Hope, and the Juan F. Luis Hospital.
The outage is necessary to allow WAPA contractor, GEC Engineering, to tie in a new 24-inch water main in the vicinity of Quest Verde road. Water service will be impacted until the tie-in to the existing ten-inch water main is complete.
The work is part of the Pressure Management Phase 2B project which involves the installation of a new 24” waterline to improve both water pressure and water quality.

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is an autonomous agency of the Virgin Islands Government which produces and distributes electricity and drinking water to residential and commercial customers in the territory. WAPA was created by the Fifth Legislature of the Virgin Islands in 1964 through Act No. 1248. Today, WAPA generates electrical power at production plants on St. Thomas and St. Croix, and distributes electrical service through smart grids to customers on St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John, Hassel Island, and Water Island. Potable water is distributed to almost 13,000 customers through water lines and standpipes. WAPA also has the responsibility of installing and maintaining street lights.
