WAPA’S Movement of Major Wartsila Equipment to Harley Power Plant Will Require a Subbase Road Closure on Saturday and Monday Morning

Jun 03, 2022

The motoring public is advised that WAPA will be transporting key Wartsila equipment from the Crown Bay area to the Randolph Harley Power Plant on Saturday June 4, 2022 and Wednesday June 8, 2022. Due to the size of the units, the roadway leading to the power plant will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. and vehicular traffic will also be restricted from the airport access road to the power plant. Only WAPA or contractor personnel will be allowed access on that roadway to facilitate their entering the plant through the western entrance.

The units will be transported from the area near the entrance to the Crown Bay cruise ship dock along the roadway east of the Doris Hodge tennis courts. The transport will continue in a northerly direction, passing in front of the Property and Procurement building, the school lunch warehouse, the PUMA oil terminal, en-route to the power plant. All movement should be completed by 8 a.m.

Parking will not be allowed along the roadway that sits between Antilles Gas and the eastern entrance to the power plant until the operation is complete.

This delivery of major components is key in bringing online WAPA’s additional 4 Wartsilas slated to begin generating power for the Territory Q1 2023.  WAPA is excited to continue its ongoing commitment to expanding efficient generation in the Virgin Islands.
