Aug 07, 2023

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “Authority”) would like to advise the public that tomorrow August 8, 2023, starting at approximately 9 AM, Water Operations crew will depressurize waterlines near Estate Mars Hill to allow the Authority’s contractor to begin tying for newly installed waterlines. The following areas will experience a water interruption during this process:

  • Mars Hill
  • DPNR
  • VIPD
  • Target Gas Station
  • Hannah’s Rest
  • White Lady
  • White Bay
  • Stoney Ground
  • Two Brothers
  • Smithfield

Starting at approximately 6 PM on the same day, traffic will be diverted to allow the Authority’s contractor to conduct exploratory digging near Mars Hill Rd.  The road closure will start from Amigos Service Station and end at Hannah's Rest intersection.  The Authority is asking motorists to use alternate routes and to be mindful of flaggers and other temporary traffic signs while traversing the area.  All work is expected to last up to 14 hours from the start time.

The Campo Rico Waterline Rehabilitation Project will benefit St. Croix’s Campo Rico community by improving water quality, reducing system wide water loss, and improving infrastructure and system reliability.

The Authority thanks the community for its understanding and patience, as progress towards water infrastructure upgrades continues.
