U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “Authority”) would like to advise the public of road construction on St. Croix beginning tomorrow, August 29, 2023, from approximately 9 AM – 3 PM affecting Hannah’s Rest Road and Centerline Road (detailed traffic detour map included.) The road construction is part of the excavation process and exploratory dig being conducted to facilitate a waterline tie-in for the Campo Rico Waterline Rehabilitation Project.
Following excavation, there will be a potable water service interruption on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, beginning at 3 PM for an approximate 10-hour duration to allow for completion of the connection from the old system to the new rehabilitated system. This temporary water interruption will impact the following areas:
- Mars Hill
- Claude O. Markoe Elementary School
- Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion Housing Community
- Department of Planning and Natural Resource Office
- Target Gas Station
- Hannah’s Rest
- White Lady
- White Bay
- Stoney Ground
- Two Brothers
- Smithfield
The Campo Rico Waterline Rehabilitation Project will benefit St. Croix’s Campo Rico community by improving water quality, reducing system wide water loss, and improving infrastructure and system reliability.
