St. Croix – RESCHEDULED Potable Water Interruption Beginning Earlier Tomorrow August 30, 2023

Aug 29, 2023
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “Authority”) would like to advise the public that the potable water service interruption scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday, August 30, 2023, has been rescheduled from 3 PM and will now start earlier at 11 AM. As part of today’s exploratory dig, the Authority discovered an additional 24” storm drainage pipe that will need to be replaced, resulting in extra time allocation. The interruption is estimated to last approximately 16 hours as the old system is connected to the newly rehabilitated system.

This temporary water interruption will impact the following areas:

• Mars Hill
• Claude O. Markoe Elementary School
• Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion Housing Community
• Department of Planning and Natural Resource Office
• Target Gas Station
• Hannah’s Rest
• White Lady
• White Bay
• Stoney Ground
• Two Brothers

• Smithfield

The Hannah’s Rest Waterline Rehabilitation Project will benefit St. Croix’s Hannah Rest community by improving water quality, reducing system wide water loss, and improving infrastructure and system reliability.

The Authority thanks the community for its understanding and patience, as progress towards water infrastructure upgrades continues.
