Clarification on WAPA Assisting the Coast Guard with Clean Up Efforts at Lindbergh Bay

Nov 09, 2023

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “Authority”) would like to provide accurate information regarding the recent oil spill at Lindbergh Bay, St. Thomas. WAPA wishes to clarify that the oil spill’s current investigation, at this time, indicates that this oil spill is not related to the previously contained diesel oil spill at the Randolph Harley Power Plant (RHPP) a couple weeks ago.

The Authority’s support and assistance with oil clean-up efforts at Lindbergh Bay are part of its commitment to environmental stewardship and ensuring the Virgin Islands natural resources are protected.

We will continue to cooperate fully with the US Coast Guard's investigation and maintain an open line of communication.
