ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) continues to prepare for the “Clean Water Action” distribution plan. This plan will provide drinking water vouchers valued at $100 to residents who live in the areas affected by lead and copper in their water supply on the island of St. Croix. Distribution of the vouchers begins from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 18 through Monday, November 20.

Distribution locations are as follows:

Saturday and Sunday (drive-thru only) at the parking lot adjacent to the Midre Cummings Park in Frederiksted for WAPA water customers residing in La Grange, Smithfield, Wheel of Fortune, Two Brothers, White Lady, Hannah’s Rest, Campo Rico, Whim, and Stoney Ground.

Saturday and Sunday (drive-thru only) at the John H. Woodson Junior High School for WAPA water customers residing in Colquohoun, Mon Bijou, Barren Spot, Diamond (West), Strawberry Hill, Sion Farm, St. John, and Montpellier (East).

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (walk-up only) at the Agricultural Fairgrounds in Estate Lower Love (eastern entrance) for WAPA water customers residing in Grove Place, St. Georges, Adventure Hill, Paradise, Mount Pleasant (South), Williams Delight, Profit, and Castle Burke.

Note: Customers from other affected neighborhoods listed may also walk up at the Agricultural Fairgrounds location on Monday as the other locations will be closed.

Residents are strongly encouraged to pre-register before pick-up to determine if they are eligible. Pre-registration goes live on Friday, November 17 in the afternoon and can be accessed at www.cleanwaterusvi.com. Eligible residents who pre-register will expedite their pickup by bringing their pre-registration confirmation code and personal identification. Residents who do not pre-register will need to present their personal identification and their WAPA water account number (can be found on the most recent bill) to determine eligibility before they can pick up a voucher. Renters who may be eligible but do not have a WAPA water account in their name must present their personal identification, know the WAPA water account number, and show proof of their physical address (e.g., lease). If no proof of physical address can be shown, renters will be required to complete and sign an eligibility verification form on-site.

As a reminder, residents of the Aureo Diaz Heights, Candido Guadalupe, and Williams Delight communities managed by the Virgin Islands Housing Authority will be notified by their housing manager on how to receive their vouchers. These residents will not need to visit the distribution centers this weekend.

In addition, residents who participate in the Department of Human Services “Meals on Wheels” program and those on the agency’s waiting list will receive their vouchers with their meals and can contact their representative for more information.

WAPA, VITEMA, the VI Departments of Health, Planning and Natural Resources, and Human Services, the VI National Guard and VI Police Department will be coordinating on-site at the distribution centers to ensure a smooth pick-up for residents.
