U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority’s (“WAPA” or “Authority”) Governing Board met today and approved the following action items. Under the Planning and Economic Development Committee, the board approved a time extension not to exceed March 31, 2024, for SC-33-20, the Authority’s Randolph Harley New Generation Project. This time extension will ensure the completion of the LPG interconnection and LPG commissioning and remaining items prior to project close out. Also approved today was a no cost, 24-month time extension for contract SC-24-21, the Hazard Mitigation Composite Pole Project. Lastly, the Board approved a no cost time extension to December 31, 2024, for contract SC-14-20 to allow for the installation of Composite Poles on the island of St. Croix.

Under Finance and Audit Committee items, the board approved a cost increase not to exceed $1,608,230.00 for SC-05-24, the ABB Inc. Transformer Repair Project that will repair the East End DT1 Transformer. The Board also approved an amendment to Contract SC-20-21 with Haugland Virgin Islands for the construction of a transmission bypass line. The amendment extends the contract time to August 31, 2024, not to exceed $14,966,458.62.

Votes on SC-24-21, SC-14-20 and SC-20-21 were as follows: Chairman Fleming – Yes, Member Turnbull – Yes, Member Boynes-Jackson – No, Member Selwood – Absent, Secretary Young – Yes.

During Executive Session, legal and personnel matters were discussed, and no action was taken.
