St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (September 12, 2025) — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) proudly joined the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) in the painting of a vibrant mural at Ulla F. Muller Elementary School on St. Thomas. The project, part of VIWMA’s Preserving Paradise Campaign, promotes environmental stewardship and encourages students to keep their school and community clean and safe.

The mural was unveiled on Tuesday, September 9, to the delight of students and staff. For WAPA, the initiative provided a meaningful opportunity to support its adopted school on St. Thomas and to inspire the next generation to practice sustainability both in and out of the classroom.

Aariyah Athanase, Communications Specialist at WAPA and one of the contributing artists, helped bring the mural to life and spoke with students about the importance of conserving water and electricity. “This was a wonderful way to bring environmental messages to life for the students, and seeing their excitement at the reveal was truly rewarding,” said Athanase.

WAPA looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, as well as supporting its adopted schools — Ulla F. Muller Elementary School on St. Thomas and Juanita Gardine School on St. Croix — through future educational and community initiatives.

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority Communication’s department is committed to reaching, informing, and connecting with the youngest members of the community to the eldest, through meaningful, transparent and effective communication.
