U.S. Virgin Islands (October 27, 2025) – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) will host its first Virtual Energy Fair on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., concluding Energy Awareness Month with a focus on renewable energy and community empowerment.

Themed “Empowering Our Islands: Building a Sustainable Energy Future,” this interactive, two-hour event invites the public to engage with WAPA leadership, industry experts, and community partners in a dynamic discussion about the territory’s energy transformation.

“As a public power company, WAPA is focused on strengthening the grid and improving service for our islands,” said Karl Knight, WAPA Chief Executive Officer. “This virtual fair is an opportunity to engage directly with the community — to share progress, exchange ideas, and work together toward an energy system that serves generations to come. Our efforts to modernize operations, expand renewable energy, and improve the Authority’s financial health are all part of building a stronger foundation for the future.”

The Virtual Energy Fair will feature presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions focused on:

  • Renewable Energy Solutions: Ongoing investments in collaboration with public-private partnerships in solar power and battery storage systems to strengthen grid resilience and reduce fossil fuel dependency.
  • Community Empowerment: Programs like Net Energy Billing (NEB) that help customers generate clean power, lower bills, and contribute to a greener grid.
  • Energy Efficiency: Practical tips for conserving energy at home and adopting energy-efficient technologies.
  • Clean Energy Workforce: WAPA’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of energy leaders through on-the-job training, internships, and career pathways in the renewable sector.
Members of the public, students, business owners, and community leaders are encouraged to attend and participate in this exciting online event. The Microsoft link to join the 2025 Virgin Islands Virtual Energy Fair can be found here: https://buff.ly/VMI10Hd
