U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (May 26, 2026) — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) advises the public that the rotational outage schedules issued on Sunday, May 24, and again on Monday, May 25, for the St. Thomas/St. John district were only issued as precautionary measures and were never implemented.
Beginning Sunday, May 24, WAPA experienced the need for critical infrastructure repairs at the Randolph Harley Power Plant in St. Thomas. As a precaution, the Authority issued a rotational outage schedule on Sunday at approximately 6:30 p.m. A second precautionary schedule was issued on Monday, May 25, at approximately 8:45 a.m. and again at 7:08 p.m. while system conditions were monitored.
Despite the issuance of the schedules, no rotational outages occurred, and service was maintained without interruption.
If experiencing an isolated outage, customers are encouraged to report it directly through WAPA’s website at https://www.viwapa.vi/customer-service/report-outage-or-problem or by phone at 340-773-2250 or 340-774-5225 – Option 4, so that crews can be dispatched efficiently. Please note that the phone line utilizes a recorded message system after business hours but is monitored 24 hours a day.
