ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (July 28, 2026) — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) advises customers in the Lindbergh Bay, Bournefield, and Contant areas of St. Thomas that a temporary water service disruption is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m. and continuing through Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.
The interruption is necessary to support the activation of a new 12-inch water main installation along Julian Jackson Drive. The new water main replaces an existing 10-inch water main located along the same roadway.
To safely complete the work, traffic restrictions will be implemented along Julian Jackson Drive. A lane closure will be in effect on the right lane of the westbound roadway immediately after the Airport Road intersection. Motorists traveling through the area are encouraged to exercise caution, follow posted traffic controls, and allow additional travel time while work is underway.
The scheduled water service disruption will affect customers located west of VITEMA, including portions of Lindbergh Bay, Bournefield, and Contant. Customers are encouraged to plan accordingly and make any necessary preparations prior to the start of the scheduled water service interruption.
Once the work is completed, water service will be restored as quickly and safely as possible. Customers may experience temporary changes in water pressure or water clarity when service resumes. Customers are encouraged to allow water to run briefly until normal clarity is restored.
