ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands (October 21, 2026) – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) has scheduled a power outage for Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. to facilitate underground electrical infrastructure work for the Queen Street (Feeder 1A) Underground Electrical Project.
Approximately 114 customers on Strand Street, Queen Street, King Street, Caravelle Arcade, and Queen Cross Street will be affected.
The outage will allow WAPA’s contractor, Haugland Virgin Islands (HVI), to safely perform construction work inside an electrical manhole.
The work is part of a $5.3 million undergrounding project funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). The project supports ongoing efforts to strengthen the reliability and resilience of the electrical system.
WAPA appreciates affected customers’ understanding as crews carry out this essential work.
