WAPA Announces Overnight Service Interruptions Tonight for GE Unit 27 Maintenance

Oct 28, 2026
St. Thomas-St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) advises customers of planned service interruptions tonight, Wednesday, October 28, as maintenance is performed on GE Unit 27.

The maintenance is scheduled from approximately 10:30 p.m. tonight until 5:00 a.m. Depending on customer demand during the maintenance period, customers served by the following feeders may experience service interruptions:

  • Portion of Feeder 7C: Cassi Hill to Red Hook

  • Portion of Feeder 10B: Bovoni to Havensight
  • Portion of Feeder 9C: Brookman Road to Red Hook and Nazareth
  • Feeder 9E
These planned interruptions are in addition to the rotating outages already affecting the St. Thomas-St. John district due to other generating units being offline for repairs. With GE Unit 27 temporarily out of service for maintenance, available generation will be further reduced during this period, and interruptions may be necessary to balance electricity supply with customer demand.

Customers are encouraged to plan accordingly and sign up for WAPA Alerts to receive outage notifications.

WAPA recognizes that service interruptions can be inconvenient and appreciates customers’ understanding as this important maintenance is performed.
