The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority will hold public hearings in December on a revised Integrated Resource Plan that defines WAPA’s generation through 2044. The Integrated Resource Plan, also known as an IRP, was prepared by the engineering consulting firm Black & Veatch to evaluate power supply options for the separate power systems on St. Croix and on St. Thomas - St. John.

The overall objective of the plan is to identify the mix of generation resources that will achieve a safe, adequate, and reliable supply of power at the lowest reasonable cost, and in an environmentally sound manner.

WAPA invites the public to review the plan, and to provide comments at hearings that are scheduled at 6 p.m. on the following dates:

  • TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3:
UVI Administration & Conference Center (ACC Building) – First Floor Conference Room, St. Thomas

  • WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4:
Cleone H. Creque Legislative Conference Room, St. John

  • THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5:
Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital Cardiac Center, St. Croix

WAPA also welcomes written comments on the proposed Integrated Resource Plan.

Comments should be emailed to communications@viwapa.vi

The public comment period will close on December 11, 2019.
