WAPA Provides Water Service Update for St. Croix
ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (September 3, 2026) — The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) provides the following update on water service in St. Croix.
Water inventory levels across St. Croix continue to improve gradually, with small gains recorded in several critical storage tanks. WAPA continues to carefully manage production and distribution as the system works to rebuild its water reserves and stabilize service.
Boil Water Advisory Remains in Effect
The Boil Water Advisory remains in effect until further notice.
Customers should not drink the water without boiling it first. Water intended for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth and other household uses should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute and allowed to cool before use. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
WAPA continues to conduct water-quality testing and monitor conditions throughout the distribution system.
Standpipe Open Friday Only
To support customers who need potable water, the St. Croix standpipe will be open Friday, September 4, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The standpipe will be closed this weekend. An update for next week’s schedule will be provided as we monitor the system throughout the weekend.
Please Continue to Conserve
Reducing non-essential water use will help support the continued recovery of the system.
Customers are encouraged to postpone non-essential water use, including washing vehicles, pressure washing and watering lawns, and to avoid letting water run unnecessarily.
