Installer Recognition

WAPA is using a contractor company named “TMD” to replace electric meters.

Installers will be driving white vehicles with signage such as shown below on the doors. Vehicles are typically small frame pickup trucks such as Chevy Colorados, Toyota Tacomas, or Nissan Frontiers.

Installers will:

  • Wear high visibility vests and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Have and identification badge with their picture on it that states that the installer is an approved WAPA contractor.
  • Have a QR code on the badge that, when scanned, will take the customer directly to this web page.
  • Have a phone number on the badge that can be called to reach the contractor call center to also validate the installer identity. Note that the phone number is (833) 220-2428. No other number should be called.
  • Knock on the front door of single family homes to inform the resident of what he/she is there to do.
  • Leave a door hanger behind after the installation with instructions on how to learn more about the project. If the installation cannot be completed, the door hanger will provide instructions on what to do next.
  • Take photos of their completed work.

Installers will NOT:

  • Ask to enter your home.
  • Ask for any payment.
  • Proceed with the installation if the customer does not want the meter installed.
  • Ask you for any personal information (phone number, name, account number, etc.).
If there is any concern that the installer is not a legitimate WAPA approved contractor, the person should be told to leave the property and the incident reported to the call center noted above, (833) 220-2428.
